Corgi Today

Our aim as a business is to be warm, Welsh and welcoming.

The Corgi lifestyle is all about surrounding yourself in quality and luxury every single day – whether you’re at work, rest or play.

At Corgi, we take great pride in producing the finest British cashmere and cotton socks and knitwear for men and women. We are a family-run company dedicated to maintaining traditional techniques and bringing employment to the community where we were established many decades ago. All of our socks and knitwear is produced in the Amman Valley and we are committed to keep all of production in South West Wales.

Corgi is run jointly by brother and sister team Chris Jones and Lisa Wood, the great-grandchildren of its founder Rhys Jones.

Corgi's Directors

Chris Jones

After studying for a degree in Textile & Knitwear Technology with Management at De Montfort University in Leicester, Chris spent seven years working at Heathcoat Fabrics in Devon, eventually moving into departmental management.

In 1997, Chris returned to his home town to assist his father Huw, then Managing Director at Corgi, with running the company, where he assumed the role of Production Director.

In 2008, Chris took over as Joint MD of Corgi with his sister Lisa Wood. Chris is responsible for overseeing the company’s financial and business administration. Lisa and Chris also manage the sales between them, regularly travelling abroad to engage with Corgi’s ever-expanding network of agents and customers.

Lisa Wood

After studying for a degree in Textile & Knitwear Technology with Design at De Montfort University in Leicester, Lisa spent ten years working as a buyer for George Davies at Asda, eventually becoming Senior Buyer in the boyswear department. However, when the position of designer became available at Corgi in 1998, she couldn’t resist a move back to Wales to work under her father Huw Jones.

In her role as Design Director, Lisa heads up Corgi’s design team working with them to come up with the designs for each pair of cashmere, cotton and wool socks and piece of knitwear that Corgi produces. Lisa is also responsible for managing Corgi’s collaborations with some of the world’s best known designer labels including Ralph Lauren, Thom Browne and Givenchy.

Corgi Staff

The Corgi Family

The company currently employs around 50 staff, many of whom work on the factory floor. Throughout its history Corgi has employed people from the local community whenever possible and so members of the same families – siblings, aunts and nephews, mothers and daughters – often work side by side, sharing manufacturing techniques and processes that have been handed down through the generations.

I love your socks. I bought quite a few for myself and family last year, some from your website, some from j.crew website. I wore them on a recent safari in Botswana on the cold morning game drives! divine! thanks! Marie Browne
